I've made this before while camping, it's becoming one of my favorites.

I started by browning some spicy sausage on the fire...

while the sausage browned I made biscuits...

 forgot to bring my rolling pin, so I grabbed the next best thing.
I did wash the bottle first. :)

after rolling the dough out, I slathered it with bacon drippings then sprinkled cooked crisp bacon on top...

rolled up and sliced...

back to the gravy...

I let the gravy thicken but kept it on the thin side...

then flattened the bacon biscuits to about 1 1/2" or so... for even, fast cooking.
placed them on top of the sausage gravy...

into the tractor rim...

shoveled a few hot coals on top and let er go for about 25 minutes..
I rotated the lid and the whole pot every 10 minutes for even cooking.

I really like the bacon drippings brushed on the dough, adds a lot of flavor.

Not a fancy breakfast but it was fairly quick to make.....and very filling. :)

Thanks for looking!

Oh hell yeah! Stealing this one for sure and it will be on the menu for the first camping trip of spring, and probably a test run or two here at the house. Always looking for an excuse for a fire in the yard!

HOG FAN, Thanks!! They cook fast and are pretty tasty. Hope you have great luck with em.
:thumb: on the fire in the yard too.

That looks terrific as always! The biscuit is even smiling from the bacon in the second to last pic!
Thanks MisterChrister, I hadn't noticed that before. :becky:

Looks like you have a pretty sweet camp site to kick back and cook at too!
It was pretty cold this time but I like being right beside the water. Just in case the fish are biting. :biggrin1:

O. M. G. I'm hooked. Must give this a try. That looks fantastic.
Thank you!! This time I used a biscuit mix, it was quick and easy. :thumb:

Thank you Pmad and Sako!
Sako, I'd trade you for some of those nachos. They looked amazing!

What's in the gravy? Sausage, all purpose flour ... In the last couple of photos what I assume is the gravy looks like fluffy rice or a stuffing rather than what I (an Australian) recognise as gravy?

Looks awesome might have to get myself a big pot like that one.

Man I love sausage gravy, hell even just gravy, and bacon, and everything else you cook. I can't help but to think if we were married I'd be dead by now. On the bright side I'd die richer because I could just sell all my cookers and let you cook for me. :-D

That's a mighty fine lookin' breakfast right there. Never thought of cooking biscuits with chunks of bacon in them but it's a great idea! Thanks for sharing it with us.
