I love 17th street.

Same, I used to work in downtown murphy. My grandpa took to me a lot of hole in the bbq places growing up and I knew I loved the stuff. It was always good but a lot of it was kind of off. The area had a lot of places that would do sliced lion smothered in sauce, etc. Sadly my grandpa passed before I found 17th. I didn't know at the time that it was a really well known joint, I just liked the ribs and pulled pork on those late nights at work.

Eventually I got more into it myself and found out that Mike was a well known guy in the bbq world. Its still some of my favorite bbq ever. Its a shame their o'fallon store couldn't hack it.
