One of my favorite comfort meals. Hamburger steak.
It's just my favorite meatloaf fixin's formed into oblong "burger steaks". lol

I like to flour then dredge in a bit of panko..

A quick fry to crisp the coating..

layered with onions in the pan...

made a gravy with some of the pan scrapings, stock, seasonings, onions and a cornstarch slurry.

Poured the gravy over the steaks and topped with more onions..

Hamburger steaks are common in the diners here. Lots of gravy and smashed tatoes! :grin:


Hamburger steak makes more sense. But we use hamburger steak to refer to a steak sandwich made with hamburger patties instead of steak sandwich meat. LOL the regional names for things.......:noidea:

It's funny. These are oblong shaped so they are called steaks. If they were round they would be meatloaf patties. :grin:
 
She probably do good on that bbq show on Netflix. None of those contestants knew what they were doing cooking over fire.

I started reading and was saying to myself, wait, this is just Salisbury steaks with brown gravy and onions, then BAM, LEFT turn and on to the smoker!

One of my earliest memories of eating at a restaurant was that I always ordered the hamburger steak. It was nowhere near as fancy or flavorful as yours, but this cook reminded me of that. Your version looks amazing!
