My great niece is getting married in July and future husband does some outdoors cooking so was gonna make him a gift of a Thermopop and some sauces and rubs.

He mostly prefers seafood and chicken over beef and pork and great niece doesn't like spicy. Of course, i'm well versed in spicy beef and pork.

What are some of y'all's favorite rubs and sauces for seafood/chicken and not too spicy?

Is your niece from Texas?

If so I can recommend a few but they are a local TX thing and I’ll have to private message ya and you have to pinky swear to a 120 month non compete/non disclosure agreement

Thanks everybody for all y'all's suggestions. Might have my daughter come over and taste all my rubs. My wife says my idea of "not spicy" is pretty spicy to a lotta folks.

I have a unopened bag of that Oakridge experimental rub that I will donate.

Pretty sure all unopened Oakridge will get you big bucks on EBay.

She was born here but has spent 23 out of 28 years in Tennessee.

For poultry, kind of like vanilla ice cream, need chocolate, caramel or whatever sauce. Seafood, I think, benefits from simple and understated s&p and a light onion and garlic. Though if fish fillets under an inch thick, blackening can be damn fine.

Just taking a quick peek into the pantry, Todd’s Dirt isn’t spicy at all.
Kinders has a Seafood Blend, more of a citrus flavor.

Can never go wrong with old bay. Kinders seafood blend is great too.
