Pitmaster T Explores - The MKT

A step closer. My mother, I cannot believe it, simply said... you a'int drivin' and plopped down the cash to have it picked up and driven to my door.

The more I look at this thing... it must have at least a grand just of cooking utensils and cambros... if they all make it on the trailer from the description of the auction.

Getting REAL excited... so excited I don't even mind garage doors are only 82 inches high.

Wait, so you AIN'T coming through Denton and fixin' me some Q? WTF, bro???? :becky:

I have zero need for one of these, but after all of Donnie's pics I want one in the worst way.

Good luck Donnie. Hope it all works out for you. :thumb:

I was just brainstorming this idea the other day! I would love to have one! Read something somewhere that MKT's are being replaced with shipping container kitchens or something of the sort. Our cooks used them all the time when we went to the field during my 3 years, ours did everything from chili mac to steak dinners.....I occasionally got to help set up, tear down, and all enlisted shared KP (dishes)

Yeah.... in the army they used a separate tent set up for field sanitation...It is a tent, garbage outside... three stainless tubs, three burners and racks for drying....they still use the same burners thoughn and I hear the new MUs like I got heat up water incredibly fast.

I will be getting two MKTs eventually I am sure, the other one being less complete so essentially I can grab it for like, 400-600. That one could be a dedicated smoker Pitmaker vault for instance, with large sinks in it. I have a 3 bay bar sink for this one... and a hand station... but after talking to the HD which says it does not have to be attached, just on the site... it might be one of those set ups that roll off onto the ground.

I really actually have too many burners and ranges for what I want to do. I will be looking to see if I can get the two burners for the griddle already there, then the grate burner and move one range over as well.... this would clear up one side entirely... then the other two components could be brought if I need extra.... or even imagine... two griddle set ups...

Thats a range lid that goes on something else sitting on the far griddle but this is what a double griddle set up looks like...

and when you think of it............. from steaks to pots of stock, to saute pans.... that's all you need really. I mean you can get around everything with this.

We just won;t know until I get it on my property I guess.

That range hood cover is seen in use at 5:48 ish in the video.

You and me both.
(Then, I thought about the boys at the front at the Bulge. Boys.
Standing in wet, filthy, freezing cold foxholes, maybe cutting branches and limbs to lie on, soaking wet feet and blankets, and If I were the Captain (Generals were at the rear) or even the mess cook, I would have figured a way to get hot food up to the boys. I would have made stew, gumbo, like a madman.

Your customers can go either along one line or in one side, around and back off the same side... say, they can order, pay, pick up some stuff on one side... then cross over to the other side... the griddle side and pick their orders, which the cook can take right off the griddle. I saw a large Plexiglas hung on one... sneeze guard.

Ugh I WISH i was were you are.... so many to choose from.

Okay... let me tell you what I got from Steel Soldiers.

YES!!!!!!! You can inspect them. Just need to make an appt. and you can see them before you bib on them.

Warning. look at a few.... and keep separate files.... when that many go, sometimes two people go at it and the price goes higher without either of them realizing there is another one... maybe without some pan.... that goes for much less. You will not be escorted so take your time. <---- remember this in a minute or so.

TAKE PICTURES of Each WITH the Vin tag....

Here is the negative part.... it will take anywhere from 4 weeks to two months to get your EUC through were you can pick it up.

As your unit sits there, and even maybe after you left.... remember when I said your unit sits there and other inspect it and all the others? Well, lets say a guy likes the one next to your but its missing.. whatever.... off it comes off your and on to his.

This happens too as those who got their EUCs through before yours pick from your trailer to make their;s complete.

No one on the base gives a damn...

BUT if you have pics.... then you have proof it was yours and they will go FIND the parts. LOL

You WILL pay taxes though.

Let's all pray for my new friend Randal Buchanann.

Talk about fate. As many if you know (and may be weary of hearing about) I purchased a MKT 85 Army Field Kitchen for my Private Catering biz and it needs to make it here from Kansas, where it was bought from an Army Surplus Liquidator. Now about 2000 things can still go wrong and I am scared to death it will. But I feel fate has got a hold on this project.

You see, after buying the dang thing I needed a way to get it here and I consulted the the BBQ Brethren. Ole BBQ Bull (from like way up North) mentioned it might be a good idea to call Dana Klose of David Klose Pits. David Klose made the "Brazos" which has been featured here namy times in many videos. This is the one I use for the Methodist Church and our Good Vittles Charities. Its one of Klose's first pits - an 87.

Anyway... Dana Klose over there in H town found this guy that tows their pits to where ever and what do you know --- he lives just up the road a piece and he also chose Prince's Birthday to start on up to Omaha (where they have to deliver a pit). It is also my grandfather's b day (who dies in 1967).

So basically a northerner hooked me up with a guy I already know who has a sister who used a neighbor down near me to move this beast for me. Fate.

Everyone Pray its a safe trip. Should Arrive by Wednesday.

Congrats on everything, I agree Fark the Ford spark plug fiasco. My budddy had to get a new crate motor in his F150 a few years back over that.

Friend of mine has a couple of Expeditions... he said it was easier to drop the engine. they sort of swing down, remove the entire heads.... and replace them than get the plugs out (which break, then often break the extraction tool use to get the broken ceramic out--- which often falls into the cylinder) in closed quarters.

And you think that damn VAN, with its removable doghouse and access to the back of the engine would make it easier....

Congrats on that field kitchen. I looked them up, and DA** that is one big kahuna! We're talking some serious *** kickin'!

Yeah, although I COULD put a vault on it I don't think I will.

A lot of money can be made by having this puppy ready for any kind of action. I am wanting a something you are as likely to have BBQ from as a great cheeseburger or dog. Heck, even after seeing Steve coddingtons sausage... did I say that....

well, this is what I mean...

I know I have a penchant for being able to rustle up something no one offers... from deep fried smoked ribs... to smoked pork or beef tacos... to a corn husk smoked sausage... all three being unique yet not quite as difficult as serving just bbq on the spot.
