Since I have shown nothing but angst over the pellet life, I have a question. I Have a upright propane smoker I use for fatties, jerky, sausage, etc. Up till now I just throw a handful of whatever chips or chunks in the smoker bowl every hour or so. Many trips out to the garage.
What I thinking is to build a mazed pellet tray to fill with pellet guys and let go Minion method. I got a 12"X12" 24 ga. Alum hole punched sheet, and am wondering if burning pellets in an alum maze smoker box is a bad for me type metal use with high heat?
Anybody have factual knowledge ?

Well there are a gazillion aluminum fry pans/pots in use out there that sit on a gas stove direct flame with food in them.

I don't imagine having an aluminum pellet holder is worse than an actual pan that touches your food.

PK Grill would be out of business if it was bad for us.

It's interesting how one generations savior is another's downfall

Asbestos
Aluminum
Mercury
Pesticides/herbicides
Cigarettes
Smokeles tobacco
Lead paint
Leaded gas
List can go on a ways.
Fake sugar - diet foods

Whatever worries you now will be avoided about the time you check out

life is too short to worry about every little thing. I would rather enjoy myself and live 10 years shorter.

I axed Google this question.
"Is it safe to use aluminum to hold hot charcoal pellets"
And he said you can cook food in alum pans, or you can put pellets in a alum packet and set in fire to make smoke.
So I think I'll be OK.
