Getting excited. Two 250 tanks will be delivered tomorrow. A rounded one for CC and flat end for FB. CC shell at .2” and FB at .25”. I have a few quarts of high heat charcoal black I plan to spray on tanks then do the build. This way has a modern patina to it showing grind marks. Then high heat clear at end. I have front end design worked out and plan to do rear axle towards front of FB. I like look of it hanging over. Slide out racks top and bottom with single door. FB will be 30-32” and have 3” air gap with 24” inner shell. Dont know yet if want to mount up to center of tank or halfway on rounded side.

Another thing not sure of is if that will be too much heat on tires next to FB with airgap. I was planning to just have 1-1.5” spacing between rear wheel and FB. I can create more if raise cooker up a little which I might do

If you look at the pictures I sent you of mine, the tires will not get hot, especially if your going with the off road build/ golf cart style..
Like I said before, if you want to make a road trip to Panama City you can look at mine..

Houston we have touchdown

Not sure what you're idea is here. You're going to paint then weld then grind the welds without painting back over the grind area?

 Or just talking about the grind marks from taking the rust off before painting?

Starting build tomorrow. Made last minute decision to do this one simple so going with rectangle frame on 6” casters. Plan is to get Cc mobile tomorrow and complete FB after Thanksgiving

For the vertical mounts anyone know typical angle these are cut at to mount to tank?

Grab a 2x4 and a compass to create a template, maybe?

I will paint tank and FB first then finish build. I will clear everything after so you see weld, grind marks. I believe Sg does something similar. Way to get color you want without having pristine paint job

Got frame done and tank mounted. Its only tacked in place as I need rotate it about 6” to get me a clean top line away from valve holes.

Hit my 40” center line perfectly

Havent gotten a lot done over last week as I was gone vacation. I managed to get FB end cut off and doing burnout of full tank before separating for inner and outer shell. Also got elbow mounted for smoke stack (I am removing top half before mounting reducer)

Been long time since had work on build. Was able get 2nd 250 tank chopped up and a small section removed out of one of the rings. Had to use multiple straps to get it back together and can only get it to 3/8”. I used 1” strip on inside to weld against and will remove later on. It little egg shaped at top but within 1/2” of 24” cylinder. Got fb/CC cutout and the. Outer 30” shell tacked in place.

Good looking build. Nice beads on your welds.
With the size and weight of that beast, you may
want to consider larger casters. (JMHO)

Looking good! Keep the updates coming. Will the bottom of the cook chamber sit even with the opening at the bottom of the door, so that there's no ledge to make it difficult to sweep out ashes?

There is small lip to prevent grease into FB and also small lip on FB prevent ash coming out. I am not doing a damper and using door open method and didnt want ash falling out unexpected

Made some progress. Got FB fully welded on and stack attached. Stack is 6ft long with 3/8” side wall. I cant lift by myself so may have to cut down. Started tank burnout today as well.

Still need to grind out stack support a little more so sits level but getting there
