This was breakfast one morning while camping. I cut the time down by frying the bacon at home and bringing the drippings in a jar.
Used some Conecuh spicy sausage (my new favorite), peppers, garlic, onions...
Started the grits first. These were great grits from Brethren Armor, thanks again!
simmered and stirred the grits...
used one cup of grits, three cups of water and two cups of heavy cream, then a pinch of salt.
while the grits simmered, I browned the Conecuh sausage in bacon drippings....
removed the sausage and cooked the onions, garlic and peppers til tender...
added butter and flour...
then chicken stock and worst sauce...
returned the sausage to the skillet...
grilled the shrimp.. ( tossed them with salt, cayenne and olive oil)
these cooked quick!
added cheese to the grits...
added the grilled shrimp to the skillet...
topped with crisp bacon and that was it.
had to be one of my favorite camp breakfasts. The wood smoke adds a lot of flavor to the dish. I'm making it again next time!
Thanks for looking!!
