I have a similar issue moving my smokers to a new house on a hill with a deck over looking a waterfront. Luckily the house has two hinged inswing doors in the front and to the deck in the back. But weight is going to be a concern. I had a framer inspect the supports and he said they are in good condition, but i tore apart some built in benches on the deck and found a colony of carpenter ants in one of the "pressure treated" 2x4's in the frame of the bench. Im having an exterminator "douse" the whole perimeter of the house.
