Has anyone had any of his brisket before -

Does he cook on the same pits as he does his ribs/chicken/whole hog - over direct heat - and mop along the way ?

Wanting to try a brisket over direct heat on my Royale Fab direct heat cooker

Direct heat brisket? Hit the Goog and search Chuds bbq direct heat brisket if you already haven't.

My 30 gallon UDS with no diverter is practically a direct heat cooker...for the 5 hours I leave it on there... then I foil boat and oven finish.

He does his a bit differently - looked damned fine.

Good luck

I had a trip to SC a couple of years ago and had his pulled pork which he's known best for. John Lewis is right down the road so I had to have his brisket which was the best I've ever had. Making me think I need another road trip to Charleston

It's great and dangerous living within 15 minutes of both of those restaurants.

Can't recommend Rodney's brisket although his pork is the best around.

A couple years ago we spent two nights in Charleston and ate at Rodney's twice and Lewis's three times. The pork at Rodney's was the best I've had. What QN posted did not look so good, however, but it was a different location. The brisket at Lewis was solid. I actually enjoyed many of the other items more at Lewis's. It would be very bad for my health if I lived within 15 minutes.
