Pork Prices To Soar

Ditto.

If California was its own country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world.

This is typical fear porn.

But what else is there to tug each other off to while yelling, 'The dern california liberals might be rasin' the price of my butts & ribs!' Hold on lemme go find a newsmax article.

Typical liberal thinking - no understanding of cause and effect or supply and demand.

Right up there with the thinking that bail reform was a good idea and wouldn't lead to higher crime. How's that working out in NYC, Portland, Seattle, Chicago......

Just departed local United Grocery store. Bought squash and Jiffy box for a squash casserole. Glanced in brisket bin first tag I saw was $101. Next $84. Small 4# netted Duroc shoulder $36. Two packs of beef shiner ribs $38.

Realistically if my three freezers (they're small)don't fail I can eat meat every day until late next summer. However it's interesting to see full bins of meat at those prices.

Crazy prices!
Thanks for the squash casserole idea, I've got em coming out of my ears. lol

Something positive is never far away

Red Beers

Hooray Beer (And sweet Melissa :-D)

Cheers!

you 2 ladies need to do a rule review about personal attacks and bringing politics out in the Ontopic forums. Consider this the only warning you'll get. Keep it civil or move on.

That looks mighty fine. I am not a squash fan but I can handle squash casserole. Could you give some directions or a MSU recipe?

I can do that but it’ll be tomorrow. Sous Chef is already asleep due to an early tee time. All I did was crumble the cornbread

On a personal level, I've contemplated to stop eating pork. They're an incredibly intelligent animal at same level as dogs and we wouldn't accept dogs being treated same as pigs.

.

I'm obviously a bbq'r as well and I've done the same.

I live in Oklahoma and have my whole life. I've grown up around cattle and chickens my entire life. I have very few issues with beef production, although I get the majority of my personal beef from a coworker / private slaughterhouse. I also have little issue with chicken raising farms and eggs. Birds aren't smart or self-aware, my biggest issue is modern birds/eggs are bred to be extremely bland.

But most of our consumption we get local items that are free-range and natural diets. Just because it tastes enormously better.

For pork. I've been to a pig farm and it ain't pretty for the surrounding area or the animals inside of it. There is a reason why most of them are in far northern Oklahoma and the panhandle. Even the videos don't do it justice. If you ever have a chance to visit on it will change your mind on a lot of pork.

Lady? LOL. OK - no prob on the warning. I was just responding to the multiple other posts that called the OP fear mongering. Didn't realize responding to those was someone out of line. Apologies.

Thankful...again...that I raise my own pork, beef, poultry, etc..

Heading that way myself. Problem is I’m not setup to butcher a beef at my place and a locker spot is about impossible to get around here. Already butcher my own chickens and could probably handle the pork if needed.

Roger.

It would be preferable if this were a neutral source(AP, Reuters) for the subject matter. The source provided has an angle that started this back and forth rabble.

Regardless message heard.

My Source is walking into store and seeing 100$ brisket, 35$ racks of ribs and 30$ pork butts. I didn’t post the article to confirm what I already observed price wise but to find the why? It’s not just Pork that has skyrocketed. I can do all this without personal attack. I’m not offended by others opinions and observation.
I may learn something, definitely not afraid nor in fear of a printed word.

Freddie's has butts for $1.49 - Spares at $1.69 and other prices aren't bad yet.....so we're not seeing it here yet.

The last 3 butts I bought at Kroger just sucked, they were mushy as heck prior to cooking them. I have a party Saturday and I'm doing pulled pork and chicken, and some baby backs. Went to the butcher shop and got a really nice pork butt for $22.00, but they were out of baby backs. So I stopped at Krogers and got 6 racks, which $11 and $18. Hard to believe a rack of ribs costs almost as much as a whole Boston Butt.
