MAK flameouts, pellets and temps

Don't have a MAK, but I am in the camp that doesn't like LJ pellets. I normally use Pit Boss, as I have had the same luck as jj13. They produce decent smoke and are economical. Most recently I have been using Traeger pellets as we have a new Ace Hardware in town that has a great outdoor cooking section and I want to support a good business in my small town. They've been getting in some interesting varieties like a Meat Church blend which I enjoyed.

Well, I
l'll add this to the above...My older 2 had the old heat rod. I started having intermittent flame outs and finally called Mac. They advised me to upgrade to the new ceramic rod, so I did. I haven't had an issue since. And, I'll add to the ash build up theory.
