Food safety for home cooks

Hello all. I am not a professional cook, but I do throw several large parties 50 100 ppl per year. I want to make sure my prep is safe and no one ever gets sick. Can you recommend a course worth taking?
 
Servsafe from the National Restaurant Association. It's one of the industry standard food safety courses. One day course, about $150. We'll worth it.
