I guess a better name for this would be "3 cheese chili pie"
Here's the fixins.

Spread the store bought pizza crust and covered that with mozzarella cheese.
On top of that went some pepperoni and fried sausage.

Next layer was some white cheddar and then the canned chili.
Dusted that with some good Parmesan cheese.

And on the kettle it goes.

When it was done and rested I slid it from the CI pan and rested it some more.
This slice was my first serving.

For a canned chili this stuff was pretty good. Mixed with the cheddar and other stuff it was excellent.

Again, thanks for lookin at my cookin.

I was under the impression that Chicago style was deep dish with the sauce on the top.

That's what we take "out of towners" for when they come visit and want "Chicago" pizza. But most everyone eats "tavern style", thin cracker crust, cut in squares.

If you want to try making something truly unique, a pizza pot pie. There's a place in Chicago that's been around since the early 70's that makes it, Chicago Pizza & Over Grinder. One of the local news stations had a story about them a few years back and now you can hardly get in there.

Craig, this deep dish pizza of yours is one of the best MSU creations I've seen here in a while - a real MSU original!
