bottom of the freezer. was looking for a pork butt to thaw for this weekend. i have cooked one that was 2 years old but the cryo was cracked and it was not good.
 
Let it sit on the counter for a few days, cook it up, and then send it to your mother-in-law as a gift.
Does anybody have the address to hell? :heh:

It should be fine if the cryo is intact. Defrost it and take a look at it. Presuming that it has stayed frozen the entire time, worst case is that it would have some freezer burn. That is superficial and can be remedied by slicing off with a knife, the same way you'd trim aged beef.
 
If that brisket has been frozen the entire time and there is no freezer burn, I'm cooking that bad boy. At worst it'll make good chili. I say thaw it, prep it, rb it, and cook it. What have you got to lose?
 
Heck, I've eaten lost deer in the freezer that old. vacuum packed goodness!
