I built my uds out of hardware parts but bought my basket from Big Poppa so I could sear with it.

My grillin set up.

Basket in sear spot with diffuser on the basket.




3/4 chimney half lit.



Burger indirect for a bit.



Flipped then moved to direct.



Look good?



2 with cheese for me.



Fresh lettuce out of my garden.



Green onions and waffle fries.



Money shot?

Mmmmm Beefy :thumb:.........but i'll always have a Weber Kettle to grill on.

I like grilling on my Big Poppa too. The coals get more air flow then they do on the kettles is the main reason, that plus the outside ring is a cool area.
 
What is the reason for using the deflector when searing? Just curious as for me I prefer flame kissed seared meat and higher temps. Nice lookin food.

I like to keep the flames down plus it does actually help even the heat out.
