Spray painting the underside of a Blackstone Griddle?

Was watching this video and the guy is spray painting the underside of his griddle... anyone heard of this?

Just me but I wouldn't paint it. If I sprayed the bottom with anything it would be oil.
I've watched a few videos on the Blackstone (and other griddle cooking) and the Brethren posts here on the forum have been the most helpful to me.
 
Oh hell no!

Rustoleum, or any other high temp I've tried (and I've tried pretty much everything) specifically says NO DIRECT FLAME in the instructions. Not only is it a waste of time & $'s, it will not protect the griddle. Jeanie is correct, if anything just oil it down or hit it with some spray oil occasionally.
 
Yeah - it seemed odd me and I wasn't planning on it.
