I have alot of backyard experience..a degree in culinary arts (former chef) I am really wanting to get into the competitive side...any teams looking for help please let me know..
 
What sanctioning body are you looking to get into? KCBS, IBCA etc? Have you been to any local competitions and talked to people? These are two completely different worlds. IMO, IBCA is more of your "backyard" cooking due to the tenderness of the meats, but you are restricted in what, and how you turn in.

I don't plan on doing and more comps this year, but will start around March. I don't have all the experience, but I did place first in brisket at my second and last competition I competed in. If your still interested in that time frame your more than welcome to come hang out with us. Meanwhile, you should find a local comp and go talk to some of the teams. GREAT PEOPLE!
