Here is a couple of photos of my UDS as you can see I have several and enjoy using them. I just started getting them ready for spring, spent Saturday giving one a new coat of paint, added some wheels and stopped by the local tractor supply and picked up an exhaust rain cap. Will spend a couple of nights this week getting the others painted and ready, look forward to making some good Q before long.

Here is the link to my first post on my UDS, post #260 on the UDS thread, looks like this was the first posting on the forum that introduced the elevated single side fresh air intake.

The UDS is one of my favorite smokers, easy to use and has never resulted in any bad food.

My First UDS Build

Three 3/4" vents 2" from bottom
Cheapo cooking grate rests on vent pipe to support firebasket
Firebasket is an 18" diameter drum cut to 12" high and drilled full of 1" & 3/4" holes
Handles on sides of drum and on lid
Temp probe holes in side of drum just below cooking grate and just above
Cooking grate 7" from top supported on 4 bolts
Flat top has 3" and 3/4" bungs left open during cooking
Sticking with the "ugly" in UDS :)

picture of temp probe holder its a 1/2" sealtight fitting with a set collar tack welded on. The screw in the middle holds the probe. This eliminates the wire for the temp grate probe (if you have one) being in the way. its mounted below the grate so it never comes out of the barrel.
