Time for a new UDS project

I was thinking that looked fairly flat and might be difficult to mold around a barrel and still get a good seal...

I was going to use JB Weld or a high temp sealant to seal it.
I just looked at the BGE vents. They are £30 for a replacement over here. The round raised disc was £10

I do like the BGE, but cant justify spending £30 on it. Thats meat money :eek:D

picked up some goodies today.

Now, I am using rubber grommets, But I am thinking of later swapping them out using an Eyelet Pliers - especailly if the rubber breaks.

As for Twinslot - its quite the overkill. The shelf holders will need cutting back. Its a struggle in the UK to find anything decent to use that is not nickel plated or galvanised.

Just need to wait now until next week for more parts to fit. My StepDrill Bit is not big enough for the intake hole - so had to order a bigger one, my temperature gauge is on order + a few other things.. Hopefully I will get to season it next weekend.

Here is another option if you dont really want to use the shelving bracket system. But don't be afraid you're not the first to use it either!!

If you happen to have a weed burner?
Maybe like this one
http://www.harborfreight.com/propane-torch-91033.html

Or any kind of torch? All you need to do with the plated or galvanized stuff is heat it up read hot and the coating will burn off and flake up. just hit them with a wire brush to clean them up again!!

Here are some of my hardware that just went through the fire treatment

And just before it got seasoned!!

I have altered my old lid a bit

I am hoping by closing up these holes I will get more stable temps

Thanks

got the ingredients for a Fatty.
Going to be a long slow seasoning session, with a big fat fatty grease for the last few hours... oh & some ribs. Not had ribs in ages. Maybe some ABT's as well.
