Sweet Heat BBQ competed in the local 5th Annual Dutch Oven Cookoff. Cookers have to fix an entree and a dessert and everything must be cooked in a dutch oven over charcoal and you have 2 hours to complete cooking and turn in. Last year we finished in 2nd place in both entree and dessert. This year unfortunately we didn't receive a call on either. Our entree was boneless chicken breast seasoned in Honey Sriracha basted with BBQ sauce and topped with bacon and smoked gouda cheese and finished in 4th place. It was a good cook even though, it was extremely stressful. A thunderstorm hit in the middle of the cooking. Our dessert was a peach and blueberry cobbler. It was good but not great. The fruit wasn't as sweet as on trial runs (sorry forgot to get a pic of the cobbler. However, 2 of the judges gave it a 3 on a 1-10 scale. I know it wasn't spectacular, but a 3 I wouldn't even eat.

Next cookoff is the Heritage Festival on the 17th & 18th. the 17th is anything with rice and the 18th is the BBQ chicken cook off.
