Hello Pitmasters and Cooks,
We have some exciting news. This year we will again have the Dean's
Sausage Cook-off on Friday night. Entrants will prepare a dish featuring Dean's sausage. Dean Sausage Company is a fixture in our community and we can't wait to see your creations using this wonderful Northeast Alabama product.
$500 in prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Dean's Sausage Cook-off so don't miss your chance to enter this fun competition. The contest pays 3 places, 1st $250, 2nd $150, 3rd $100.
Two, one-pound packages of Dean's sausage will be provided to each team entering the Dean's Sausage Cook-off. It is mandatory to use Dean's sausage for the contest. Dean's sausage must be the only protein in the turn-in box. Entries will be judged on appearance and taste, with taste being the most heavily weighted. The Dean's Sausage Cook-off rules must be followed or disqualification will result. You will be furnished an aluminum tray by the meat inspector for turn-in but you can use any container, as long as the number from the provided box is attached. DO NOT USE YOUR KCBS BOX. Dean's sausage for the cook-off will be on site
Friday morning and will be given out during the meat inspection. Turn-in will be at the judging tent from 5-5:30 p.m. Friday. This will be an easy thirty minute turn-in because of the cook's meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the judging tent. The Dean's Sausage Cook-off is $20.00 per entry and you MUST be on record of wanting to enter this contest by Monday, April 3, 2017 NO EXCEPTIONS. Record of entry MUST be done by mail (see attached entry form at the bottom), e-mail, (
jtarrance@cityofgadsden.com) or by phone call 256-549-4658. The contest is open to Professional and Backyard teams and will be judged collectively. Record of entry should contain the team name, pitmaster /cook name, phone number, and e-mail address.
