according to :becky:'s Facebook 12 years ago today I bought my first smoker, an El cheapo brinkmann I believe.

not my first cooker, I've been grilling and stuff since I was 16 but this was the start. I made chicken. I can assure you it was over smoked with wet wood chips and some how over and under cooked at the same time... yes the skin was a rubbery soot soaked inedible mess.
 
During my 1st cook on a smoker/grill I learned
you don't put bbq sauce on chicken parts BEFORE
they go on the grill... the skin was a burnt mess!
