Jambo style collector vs Franklin style?

I’ve been shopping offsets & noticed that the Jambo/Outlaw style pits are top down cookers with the same collector style but the new generation of Franklin “style” smokers is a larger wider collector style also at the grate making them top down style as well. Is there any real difference or reasoning behind the difference in collector’s? I’ve also heard that the Jambo/Outlaws are competition style smokers? Again any real difference to the backyard cook?
