So I was incredibly blessed to win a contest with a prize that I never could have imagined winning. Jeremy over at Mad Scientist BBQ has a Patreon. As part of the Patreon he does monthly contests with amazing prizes including thermapens, his branded leather aprons, a Weber Smokefire, etc… the lowest value for 1st place on any given month has been $300. I highly recommend. There’s also a Discord chat with a bunch of great bbq guys and at least some overlap with the Brethren.

Anyway, for the month of April the contest was best idea for a video that he could make. Still absolutely crazy to me but he picked my idea. Prize was the big one everyone had been waiting for! The yet to go into production Fatstack 80. I can’t share details on the video but it’ll be coming soon I’m sure.

I was already scheduled to go out to the Louisville area to take a class that Jeremy was running (highly recommend). Returned later in the week after some planned vacation and brought the 80 home to KC on 4/22. First smoke started this past Sunday and went well into Memorial Day morning. It ran great! People with them on order are going to be thrilled when they arrive!

Jeremy and his wife were absolutely amazing to myself and my family. The class was awesome and definitely worth it. I’m blown away by his generosity. What a blessing!

Some photos of the cook. The brisket had a nasty gash so the one side dried out a bit but it was otherwise great! Very fun pit to run. My awesome neighbor stayed up until 2:15 with me. I finished up around 3:30 and overnight rested all the meat. There was also a pork butt and pork ribs.

Not sure how to get the pictures right side up… sorry about that.

Trays awesome man. I'm on the list for one of those. Still 10 Months or so till delivery, but not in a rush.

I actually just stopped by the Fatstack shop since its just a few (LA) miles from my house. They turn out some awesome custom pits plus there was a 120 waiting to be picked up that I spent some time looking around.

Enjoy the pit.

Congrats! Nice pit! Eric (the owner) of Fatstack is a great guy. We hung out at a Superbowl party some years back when he was putting Fastack into motion.

They’re cool right? You’ll love it. I actually have a 120 on order still. Trying to transfer it to someone else but I can’t get ahold of anyone at fatstack. Been 4 weeks this Friday since I first emailed them.
