What is "cleaning the grates"? Unfamiliar with the concept.

Has anyone used these? Have seen them in stores and tossed around the idea.

For my smokers, I use a pressure washer after each use. Although after watching the Texas brush, I think I'll order one of those for my grills. looks nice.
