Best probe set up for monitoring meat temps

Just got the Thermoworks ThermaQ, but now kicking myself for not getting the one from ThermoWorks with the wifi, would have been nice to see the temps in my phone from inside our trailer this weekend while it was raining.

Simplicity is best in my opinion. I once owned a Stoker that could monitor anything and control everything, but it was also quirky and not 100% reliable. I have a drawer full of Mavericks, Polders, Thermaworks, etc that I practically never use anymore.

Nowdays I cook more by the clock than temp so I know within an hour when I need to start checking temps. For this the Guru DX2 and a splashproof Gen2 Thermapen are a solid combination that delivers no matter how bad the weather or what buttons an FNG might press by mistake.

I'm going to dig up my own thread here with something pretty darn cool I just came across (it was posted in Q-Talk in September, but I didn't see it then).

It is a totally wireless meat probe system... :-D It's on kickstarter, so they will not ship till January (or that is the projected date). I'm going ahead with a pledge because it looks like a fun new toy that Santa can deliver a little late!

Here is the link to the thread discussion in Q-Talk from September.

I've been burned on Kickstarters that never delivered a finished product

So..... I'll wait until retail release from now on.
