My small preseasoned Lodge Cast Iron DO arrived. Seasoning chips couple places exterior lip (see photo) and handle. Zero issue with that as it's minor. Scrubbed and washed it with Hot hot water with a Lodge stiff brush, dried with lint free brush, applied a thin coat of evoo and into oven for an hour to bake off any unseen critters not of my tent.
Lots of myths and mystique surround vintage and current cast iron.

Cast iron does not need the care so many people put into it.
They were simply washed in the river as settlers moved west.

Use it.
Rinse it, scrape if necessary (I use the chainmail)
Rinse
On to cooktop to dry.
Allow to cool
Store.

I have friends who rub it with oil before they put it away.
Unnecessary - you just end up with rancid oil on your pan.

Looking good, vegetable oil won't go rancid animal fats will, neither will if used often enough. Veg oil will set up like super glue and will be tough to remove without some high heat or elbow grease.
