Gentlemen,
i would like to build a smoker. Preferably an RF offset (think lang) possibly with a warming cabinet. I have been pouring over other builds from this and many other sites/forums and believe i have a good idea of what i want. However, i am a novice at nearly all the skills involved, including how to reliably price this build and weld. I need advice on what welder in my price range (which is not much) would be best, stick or fluxed core? how do i price the materials (i.e. steel and hardware) accurately? Along with any other advice that might benefit myself or others that find this and are in the same situation. I can smoke meat, have built several UDS and had a COS and old fatboy that was heavily modified, i just really dont know where to start with this. I am in no hurry and not afraid to take longer and put more work in to save a dime or two. Mostly I need a distraction/project and love to smoke so i figure this was just a natural evolution. Thanks in advance for guidance or help.
