150 Gallon Build thread

Where did you get the axle and tires and how did you mount everything up?

Got the axle from a local farm supply store, borrowed the tires from my 250 gallon smoker. We made sure our frame was square and then we carefully mounted the tongue using a piece of string to make sure we were centered. It worked out well we took it down the highway already with good results

He will be buying his own wheels and tires though lol

DHQ, after reading this thread, I had to go read your other build threads, and man...you know how to build a cooker! Really sweet stuff, and that 600 gal unit is something to behold!

Nicely done, brother!

Thanks Vammy! and still not done with 600 have a couple more things I want to do to it lol 1st on the list is swapping the 3500 pound axles for 6000 pound ones and swapping the springs..

My dad done something different with the exhaust outlet on this one.. He took the ends off of the hole he cut for the firebox and welded the ends together. to make the bottom and used a piece of 1/4 plate on the top.

Very cool idea for the exhaust and I love the idea that Pops is using every bit of what would otherwise be scrap. I've built a few with the grate level "Franklin" exhaust, they draft great!

made more progress Yesterday! starting to look more like a smoker. We got exhaust done and got doors fully strapped. Also got drain installed. Its starting to look like something now. This is the exciting part of building watching it come together! Never gets old!

1st Cook!

Went well! didn't have any charcoal so I made my own lump lol started out with a lot more sticks than I needed but let it burn down to coals and then added more wood before I but food on. Smoker is done now we just have to finish building out the rest of the trailer.
