So, I just got it and assembled. The metal skin is somewhat light but I don't want to haul more than 30# around anyway. Otherwise, without having fired it up yet, I wonder about how the "flame broiler main plate" (picture #3) sits on the fire box leaning toward the right side of the unit. In other words it does not sit level to the cooking box. Would appreciate knowing if yours is the same or am I missing something.

Don't have one, so I can't be sure. First thing that comes to my mind, is there a drain on the right side. Maybe it leans to drain grease to that side?

You are absolutely correct. I just read the assembly instructions and it is tilted to drain. (Never read the instructions until after you assemble, and then only when you are perplexed.:biggrin1:)

if you look closely, there is a drain trough welded on the end of the box at the end just under the diffuser.

I got mine in today as well. Slapped it together and burned it off at 350 for about 45 minutes. Turned it off and the fan is still blowing about 20 minutes later. I've read that it shouldn't be unplugged until the fan stops.

Should be a fun little toy to booger around with for a while. I still laugh at their 8 cookers in 1 advertising and they misspelled the word portable on the box. I have a protable grill.

Yeah, it's toy for small stuff for me.

5 year warranty, impressve if they stay around that long.
Includes a registration link on the inserted card, try to register your grill on their site...lol

Most (all?) pellet grills/smokers keep the fan on after shutting the unit off to make sure that the pellets in the fire pot burn conpletely

I think the fan is on as long as the unit is plugged in. You judge when the unit has cooled down sufficiently.
I was looking forward to do pizza on this unit. They show it in the flier that comes with the unit but do not write about it in the material sent. I wonder if you can keep the unit at 500 degrees with lid down long enough to do a pie/

Yes because the way they regulate temperature is the consistent rate of burn of pellets. So if you start your next cook with more than what the computer is accounting for then it could throw off the temperature of the cook by keeping the pot more full then what it should be.

I've had the Pit Boss for over a year, but I am still learning this pellet game. Did you order one of these rascals?

The fan on mine shut off after about 30 minutes and then I unplugged it. I have a premade flatbread that needs to be cooked tonight so I will be running at 400 for about 15 minutes with the lid closed. We will see how that turns out.

I just finished a rib-eye sear after sous vide on this unit. The temperature gauge went from 95 to 585 and climbing degrees within 15 min. when I finally opened the lid. I have to assume that the gauge is off (I did not have my own probe in the cook chamber to compare). I'll be doing a pizza in the next few days and crank to maximum again but I'll have my probe in to check.

I have my flatbread in there now. If that turns out well then I might have to pick up some Bagel Bites. Junk food of my youth.

I would thing the paint would burn off and even distort with multiple high heat cooks.
The lid is pretty thin gauge material.

I will say that this joker produced a surprisingly good pizza. Of course I had nothing to do with the final result since it was a premade flatbread from the store. However, I used 100% mesquite pellets and even with a cook at 400 there was a slight and pleasant taste of smoke on the food.

Has anyone been able to contact the seller or to register the unit?
After cranking the heat up to max for the sear, I noticed the condition depicted. The paint inside the furnace chamber peeled off. Not that I care about the paint it's more that I don't want the smoke on my food. I assume once burned off it is done smoking.
Probably should not go max heat with lid down but then how do they do a pizza.
Anyway, doing a meat loaf today and well see.
Tow gripes: 1. This is supposed to be a portable unit; where are the handles? 2. How do you get the unused pelets out of the hopper? Run the auger without heat I suppose?

They released another update today that says that you shouldn't cook with the lid closed at any temp above the lowest level. Obviously nobody will be doing this and I am sure they will come out with another update with better advice.

I haven't had any paint problems, but 400 is the highest I have ran it. As far as registering the unit goes I believe you will have to wait until they finish their website which they say will happen soon.
