I'll bet there is no chance of that here in Georgia, but I will check it out anyway. Thanks for the tip.

Our krogers don't even know what a brisket is :)..... Ok my exaggerating a bit.. But every time I ask if they can order one or get some in they look like I have no freakin clue what i'm talking about LOL

I'm telling ya some things are regional. I don't see tri-tips... that's a california thing I think.. Brisket and short ribs are also hard to come by around here......

Edit: Ok brisket is becoming more readily available around these parts.. Even my local walmart will carry a brisket once in a while now! They only started about 6-8 months ago

What’s a Kroger? :-D We ain’t got no Kroger’s in this neck of the woods.

Guess I’ll have to settle for our old fashion country butcher shop with freshly slaughtered and butchered meats. :clap2:

BTW - good prices.

My Kroger ad has pork shoulder for $1.49/pound. I'm new to all of this so is that a good price? I have a PBC and was planning on picking one up and throwing it on there this weekend. Any tips for buying a shoulder or smoking it on the PBC?

That's standard price. Sales are $0.99 around here with a daily price of $1.29 at Costco.

That is actually a decent price. Everyday around here is $2.49-$2.99 in the grocery stores, sales range from .99-$1.49. Definitely worth it to cook one for the weekend. As far as tips, try to look for good marbling for moistness and flavor, and I always go for the larger ones just so I can have a good yield and leftovers. You can find as many cooking methods on here as you care to try, but start with simple and progress from there.

TBH, I could use some ribs...love to try grilling them on the schwenker style tripod. I'm pretty much burned out on brisket- for now. Someone in town has had them on sale for the last 3 weeks or so.

Been pretty nice- but I'm ready for a change.

I picked up 3 of them. I’m gonna grind one up for burgers, smoke one, and freeze the third for a rainy day. Prices around here are usually 2.49 or 2.99 for choice briskets, so 1.77 is a deal. Picked up 2 racks of ribs also, schwenker style is intriguing. I lived in German for a while in the 80s and have watched many a schwenkmeister swing pork over a fire. Looks like fun.

My kroger in lilbur, GA had 2 full sized brisket last week but they were certainly more than $1.49 per pound

No kidding. Other than corned flats I've never seen a brisket in a Kroger here in Georgia. I bought a Sams membership just to buy briskets

In my many years here I've only seen full packers at a Kroger twice. Both times must have been flukes because they never carried them ever again :becky:. They weren't anything special and luckily there are other options :-D

I was in a Kroger near my house, but not my normal store, and happened to walk by the meat case and found a brisket just shy of 9 lbs. marked down to $15. I certainly scooped that up and cooked it last week. Turned out pretty good. I will try to get by there periodically to see if I can score more.

I've seen flats a bit, but I always walk on by as they are never a good price :becky:

Absolutely. The flats are usually very thick, but are outrageously priced. I can usually get a full brisket at Sam's for close to the price of one of those.
