Lone Star Grillz Vertical Insulated Cabinet Smoker-For the new Owner

Flame Boss puts two fans on the big LSG cabinets. There is a thread on the LSG fan page with the owner of Flame Boss discussing this in detail.

I dont see the need personally. if yall look at that link I posted 1 works perfectly fine. I guess i dont understand the objective of 2. OFC people are welcome to use whatever they want.

FYI .. i actually use ONE. Its important to use the Universal variable speed blower though. I guess if you were using the tiny 5cfm fan you'd need 2.

Chris at LSG uses one.

I'll just leave this here. Maybe Flame Boss can enlighten us on why they used two on this cook.

I'm gonna stay away from atc's, they just confuse the hell out of me, If I get out there at 2am...I like the handle on the ball valve just fine.

i concur. id like to know too. I do notice the in the setup air valves are only half open with 2 fans.

I can tell you for certain that 1 fan blows hard enough that you can feel the air coming out of the exhaust at a pretty brisk rate.

According to the OP - Tom Rasmussen Hi Vernon
Yes I still like it very much
And no I do not think you need two fans

Run 1 fan on my Guru when I even use it and it works great. Honestly the last few cooks I have just used the B valves. I am with others can't understand 2 fans unless the fans are small.

The little bit I looked at the wi-to setup for the guru last night it does seem a little odd. I don't care for the fact that you need to go into changing settings actually in your router setup to make it work. Does the Flame Boss setup require the same thing?
Thanks

TexasRT,

A dunka like me had smooth as silk interface getting my Flame Boss 300 wifi to talk to my tablet and phone. Ironically the bbq Brethren website is more complicated than Flame Boss interface. Check out myflameboss.com and it'll give you a hint of what to expect. I love that I don't screw with router or download an app. You just open a browser window the way we see bbq Brethren and that's it!

Its been awhile since I hooked mine up but as I recall plug it in, it finds all available wifi networks, select yours, and enter your password. Its that simple, hardest part was figuring out how to scroll through the alphabet to enter the password but after a minute or two that was resolved and it was set up. You need the Flame Boss Universal its a much larger fan, not the Flame Boss Kamado its a smaller fan. Flame Boss Universal fan is rated at 15 cfm and the Guru Pit Bull Fan is rated at 25 cfm, I have both and have run them side by side and cant tell any difference what so ever. One thing I like is every time I turn on the Flame Boss the first thing it does is update the firm ware to the latest version so its always up to date. I to had a similar experience with Guru customer service trying to resolve my wifi issue and in the end gave up and my Cyber Que was nothing more than a Digi Que with extra meat probes. I sell the Flame Boss but am not biased against Guru its a great product as well and the only reason I dont sell it also is because they now only sell direct, no dealers. Guru makes a good product and looks like they may be making some improvements with their new model only time will tell. All that being said for what ever its worth I haven't used anything but the Flame Boss since I got mine I like it better.

Thanks
Chris

Again thanks for all the great input. After reading all the info, I'm sending the Guru setup back and should have my Flame Boss tomorrow. It definitely sounds more user friendly and I'm already happier with their customer service dept.
One thing they told me - if you use the Pit Bull 25cfm fan with their system, it will work fine but you need to call them so they can walk you thru changing a setting in the advanced menu settings. I didn't ask why that's just what Terry @ F.B. told me to do. They also have free overnight shipping thru Farthers Day.
Chris - I didn't realize you sold the Flame Boss or I would have come by your shop and got it there.

you wont have any remorse at all! I recommend setting up your flameboss and running through a firebox full of charcoal the first time without any pressure or stress of depending on something to be cooked. This way you get a good idea of how it works ...what you need to do ..etc.

Chances are ... you won't have any issue whatsoever. I found out while seasoning mine that the exhaust hatch needs to be closed way down and water works wonders (this smoker likes 250 and I prefer 225).

I let the flameboss stoke the fire and work harder to keep up the temp over having the exhaust hatch open more if that makes sense.

Offshore - sounds like a good plan, I'll do the practice run Friday evening. I plan on cooking Saturday and probably Sunday too. Thanks.

Well after reading all the comments in this thread I finally placed my order for the "mini".
8 week estimate.

Congrats on placing your order.I've read this entire thread twice and cannot find
one negative thing said about these cookers. Glad to hear that they told you
an 8 week estimate; makes me think that they are rolling right on schedule.
I ordered mine on 6/1.

It would seem that they are on schedule. You have 2 weeks on me, so you will be smoking long before I get mind. These weeks are going feel very long.

I got my Flame Boss today. After opening and powering it up, in a few minutes I was online with my wi-fi. Very easy setup. I have it running now, going to let it go overnight to "learn my pit". I'm already happy with it, and their customer service. They are VERY responsive.
