Thinking of adding a gasser...?

I've been BBQing exclusively on Weber kettles for several years now. I currently have my original kettle and a Performer Premium copper top so I think I'm pretty well equipped as far as charcoal.

Lately I've been thinking of adding a small gasser. I think the convenience for quick things like burgers and dogs and the occasional steak for the wife and I would be nice. A lot of the time it takes longer to light the coals than the actual cook.

I'm considering a Weber Genesis II E210 orS210. Any opinions and suggestions will appreciated. Wadda you guys think?

A gasser was the requirement from my wife to join the outdoor kitchen club (which is getting started as soon as the snow melts). This allows her to quickly ill up burgers and dogs for the grandkids when I am working the night shift.

I went with the Lion 32" built-in.

I've got a Weber Genesis E-330 for when I just want to do a quick cook and don't feel like firing up the Primo. It's a great gas grill.

I bought a set of GrillGrates for it which make it even better. Super even cooking and I've never got such nice char marks from any other grill.

Clearly two camps.

1.Spend a bunch of money on a high quality gasser (Weber, Napoleon, Viking). Replace grates and burners and covers every 5-7 years.

2.Buy a cheap gasser for $200 that will last 6-7 years before you throw it in the junk pile and buy another.

Just depends on what you are looking for.

I've had an s320 for 3 years now and it's still in great shape, since I only use it for quick cooks it stays in the garage and roll it out when needed.

I think it's a good choice. Only thing I'd consider is whether you'd be better with three burners so you have a little more flexibility to have some indirect heat. Given your kettles though, you might just go that route anytime the third burner would be relevant.

Can't go wrong with a Weber gas grill and they work so much better than the cheap ones that the little extra they cost is well worth the headaches of cooking on a lesser one.

I have a two burner Weber and a three burner Weber. I would never get a two burner again because it just does not get hot enough for the sear I want on a steak. The 3 burner works really well. I added grill grates to both gassers to improve seating and the two burner is still disappointing.

The quality of both Weber is great and I would not hesitate buying a used one off of Craigslist if budget is a concern.

J&B Works is a great gas grill. I have it hooked up to a 400 gal propane tank and it works great, puts a lot of smoke on meat, and you can cook fast or slow with it.

3 burner in order to do indirect and a rotisserie at some point,Weber is my choice and I think 10y if keep under cover before parts are needed, have been thru a bunch of gas grills in the 3-500 range that lasted 2-3 years but no more

New Weber gassers are now made in China. Suggest Broil King Baron for quality built in the USA.

(FYI, my BK Regal 490 Pro can hit 800 degrees , plenty hot to sear).

Take a look at the Weber Q. I found a Q300 on CL for $70, it is 2 burner with larger cooking grate than a 22" kettle. Its all cast aluminum with SS burners and cast iron grate. I've grilled everything from ham&cheese sandwiches to fish fillets to burgers and steaks on it.

I bought my mom a Weber Spirit E210 for Christmas. I think it's a good little grill and I got a good deal on it before Christmas. She doesn't need anything fancy and it doesn't sound like you do either for your described need. I don't like the new Genesis design with no door. Buddy of mine just bought a Summit S670 and that thing is like the space shuttle!

I love to BBQ with charcoal and wood but I would hate to have to live without my little Weber BabyQ for small quick cooks.

I bought an older weber Genesis, with the 3 sideways burners, for 100 bucks on a garage sale and the only thing it needed was new flavor bars and a good cleaning. I've been more than happy with it and I'm sure it will last far longer than the 300 dollar stainless char broil that it replaced, which I got about 5 years out of before it fell apart.

I'm on my second 3 burner genesis. The first pooped out. The business end was salvageable with replacement parts but the cart (which is not stainless) rusted out. It lasted about 11 years. I loved it and the new one.

I would not hesitate buying a used one off of Craigslist if budget is a concern.
I got one - w/ rotisserie for $10 off CL - but never use it, always use the Performer, Smokey Joe, or Jumbo Joe. Ninja said weed burner lights coals fast, so does the small propane torch, which is what I use.
