I'm offended by something too, and I demand compensation. I'm entitled, after all. :becky:

But seriously....

On a side note, I drive through Valley Park Missouri on my way to work.
I pass a massive landfill that dominates the horizon of that town. There is no day that it smells good, much less is even barely tolerable.
In the summer it's just plain offensive and eye watering.
Sometimes I stop at a gas station in the town to refuel and get some cocktails and when I open my door....damn...
I can feel the contents of my stomach raise to the bottom of my throat.

On the other hand, there are folks that live down wind of Franklin's BBQ joint.......
Life could be worse.

yea...its sad...some people look at them the same

Correct me if I am wrong because I very well may be, but Franklin is also in the process of building a new smokehouse for all of his various pits that is raised off of the ground therefore elevating the smoke. This seems like it is possibly a considerate move for his neighbors in addition to the other benefits?

i thought it was already built?

Not sure it's possible to elevate a pit high enough that folks won't smell it.

Ever spent enough time on this forum that you start scratching your head when you pass a reasonably sized water tower? :loco:

Seriously though, I don't know about their construction progress but several restaurants have moved their pits to accommodate.

It's just frustrating to see a "new" article copy and pasted from old information basically word for word and presented like they did any writing at all. An article about the progress of the ongoing discussion would be welcome, but this author has created nothing more than clickbait.

Relax. That was a quote out of the article, not his words.

So we can now post false blanket insulting statements as long as we have a source for said statement? That's ridiculous.

I don't care if he said it or just repeating it.
But when did it become acceptable to make posts that insult/defame/antagonize 50% of the membership.

If I didn't see the forum heading, I'd swear that in the last year this place was renamed to BBQ Brethern and Tea Party?

Your own rules say this antagonistic crap will be deleted.
Leaving it up is offensive and insulting and completely irrelevant to barbeque.

I've read this whole thing and still don't understand your source of frustration unless it's with the half-assed Texan that can't keep up with their own barbecue news that blogged it in the first place. But maybe I missed it.

If it were up to me I would just delete this whole thread. The mods have been working too hard the last few days. I am not saying the mods are perfect but you could pm them out of respect for what they do for us. Not attacking anyone in particular because there have been several of us that have done this recently. I just think sometimes we forget that they are basically volunteers that make it possible for us to come on here and bs with each other and learn something.

Because instead of discussing bbq, a select few are using this topic to bash liberals. (Many have been deleted)

This was one forum that I could count on to be free of the political bull that ruins many a forum.
In the last year, that has started to change.

But this thread has been the most blatant.
This forum has rules about antagonistic posting that serves no purpose.
Instead of enforcing those rules, the antagonistic posts are being defended rather than deleted.

Why do we need that crap here?
Let's talk about BBQ without intentionally insulting and antagonizing each other.

You're not being very tolerant of our intolerance ;-)

La Barbecue's general manager Alison Clem says one neighbor has complained, and she believes the criticism is overblown.
"We've walked in front of his house to see what the smell is, and we don't smell anything," she says. "It's really strange to me because Austin is one of the new barbecue capitals, and people are upset about the smoke. We don't think it's as hardcore as they're saying."

its hilarious u get mad at someone for posting a quote from the article...but not at the OP for posting said article....

This will NEVER an issue out our way. Have folks living in tents....buses....using Port-A-Johns as a crapper on a permanent basis....
