Got the firebox doors cut

And the top/lid cut with everything kind of mocked up so you can get a feel for how it will look. The floor will be cut our of 1/4 inch plate to the ID of the tank so it is flush with the top of the lower lip (just so it will be easy to clean out accumulated ash.

Starting to look pretty cool.

PS the top feels like it is about 50#, definitely going to need the spring assist.

Looking incredible so far Dave! Do what ever you have to make it work...money is no object!

How about now?

Hiatus, the bad kind:doh:

Cracked head on my medium sized tractor, my main mower at the worst part of mowing season. Decided that if I'm tearing it down that far, I might as well do a complete overhaul. New head and machining should be ready mid-week and hopefully it will be back in service by the end of the week.

Good news is I've figured out the geometry if the spring assist hinge on the lid:thumb:

So, yesterday was gonna be a build day. Had to cook 5 briskets, 75 pounds total for a Cattlemen's dinner and figured what a great day, minimum 6 hours to fabricate while tending the big RF pit. Got up and fired the pit at 8:00, let it "steralize" for a couple hours and put the briskets on at 10:00, got everything cleaned up and THEN THE FARKIN POWER WENT OUT, BLOWN TRANSFORMER! Didn't impact the cook at all but I figured out pretty quick that without electric I'm dead in the water for fabrication. The power didn't get fixed until 4:00, by then I had way to many beers to fire up the mig.:becky:

Great story Dave! ;)

Those pesky transformers always blowing when the beers are flowing. :becky:

There's really only one thing you can do when the electricity goes out - drink all the beers so they don't get warm...
