Ya an addict

Addicted to BBQ, smoky ribs piece of ass oops mean piece of butt.

Grating is carbon steel deck grating

that is sweet. one of the mods or an admin needs to send that man a brethren sticker or something so that he can represent in namibia

first cook

Nothing exotic yet just tried and true pork ribs

Takes longgggggggg time to heat up and stabilize. Must use charcoal. We loaded a charcoal wood mix. Toooooo much smoke. Will just burn charcoal now with chunks of wood in the ash pan for smoke

To answer the question on grates we used welded deck grating. Will post a photo next post.

Looks Awesome. I considered deck material for my pit as well but I couldn't find any that wasn't either painted or galvanized. That stuff is so stout you'll never have to worry about overloading it!

you could try burning the paint off, build a fire and put your grates on it let it burn, or you could have them sand/bead blasted

Ours took on a really nice patina after burn out and first cook

I ended up going with expanded material and it's working great for my needs. If I build something more permanent I'll definitely go that direction. Hurry up and cook an emu. :)

Hunt

We are invited on a hunt this coming Sunday, anything goes LOL from guinea fowl to giraffe, although we are hoping for a Springbok
