BBQ....Anywhere in eastern NC
Seafood....Anywhere on the NC or SC coast
Fried Chicken....Anywhere in the south.
Welcome and happy hunting.

I lived in Jax for 20 years and it is pretty much a wasteland when it comes to great food.
Hit the Smithfield's Chicken and Barbecue for some decent "Eastern style" BBQ (minus the smoke). Their fried chicken is pretty decent too. Get the combo platter with Brunswick stew as a side.
For seafood, head on over to Swansboro to "Captain" somebody right on 24 just before crossing the bridge. Sneads Ferry had a decent hole-in-the-wall seafood joint also (if you are looking for fried).
For a GREAT burger, hit "Yana's" on the waterfront in Swansboro. Just expect to wait a long time to get seated! Best onion rings I've ever had too! And they mix a mean cherry coke - that's right, they MIX IT!
That's about all I remember, wish I could have been more help.

Semper Fi!
