All,
My good friend Chris and owner of Taino Smokehouse is hosting his first KCBS competition.
He applied for State Championship status yesterday (September 5, 2014) and called the state today. They say 2 weeks to get it approved.

This event is not for charity and all competition money in goes out. In fact he is ponying up $5000 of his own cash as a gaurantee payout. He is doing this because he loves BBQ.

OCTOBER 10-11 in Middletown, CT.

I have a work thing that weekend, but if I didn't my first choice would probably be Greenfield. Don't they need 90 days to get KCBS sanctioning? I think it's kind of rushed - have them get ready to do it next year. Announce it early in the year, and please, please pick a date that doesn't match a contest in NY/New England.

He is working on getting the state championship status. It's at the state right now.
Payout is $5k. Out of his pocket. It's not a for profit event. What goes in goes out.

The Govenor has approved this event as a State Championship. Give Chris a call. Information at the top of this thread.

Last I was told the competition has 14-17 teams signed up. The event is a sanctioned State Championship. This event is non-profit for Taino Smokehouse and has gauranteed $5K in total winnings.

Chris from Taino has really stepped up to the plate on this. He is doing it because he loves BBQ, loves a crowd and can't seem to get enough stress in his life. haha.

Lets go, lets hit 20 teams for this event in its first KCBS sanctioned event!
