Question about pellets and wood chips

I thought I got a Rec Tec pellet smoker but it turns out the seller was a scam. Thankfully Amazon refunded my money with no problems. I already ordered, and got, pellets and I was wondering if I could use them in my Masterbuilt electric smoker instead of wood chips?
