Deep Fried "Fatty"

"Fatty" is just a descriptive term here. 8)

Has anyone deep fried a 1# Chub of sausage?
I am going to do a Jimmy Dean Hot one in a week or two.

I have breaded and fried slices but never the whole chub...

I want to see the pics, man...I want to see it done...:thumb:
 
I've not fried a whole one, just chicken fried slices and served on biscuits with the skillet gravy.

Well, I tried it.

Cooked at 365ish to 160-165 internal.
Took about 15 minutes.

RESULTS--inedible hunk of burned waste on the outside.
By the time the IT got to 160, the outer 1/4-1/2" was burned to a crisp.

Trashed it

Lesson learned--I will stick with smoked sausage in the future.

Bummer!

Years ago, I was taught by a short order cook of great experience, that you can deep fry sausage links for serving at breakfast. He swore it was the best tip. It turns out awful product.
