Well I finally took the plunge and ordered a new weber mastertouch from amazon. I'v wanted one for a few years now but thought the food coming out of my uds was so good, I didn't bother with it. But after grilling up some burgers on my new smokey joe, the wife told me to get the mastertouch, it was ordered on the spot. I've been searching youtube on cooking on the kettles and didn't realize that they were that versitile and can just about cook anything with the right set up. I'ts suposed to be here next thursday. Gonna be the longest week of my life.

You'll love it! Super versatile. I have a UDS and a kettle as well, I find I almost always use the kettle unless I'm doing a larger cook.

Nice !!

Love it when the wife says "Get it" !! LOL

Just curious..what's the difference between the "Master Touch" and "Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" ?

Master Touch:

Weber Original Kettle Premium22:

It would appear the Master Touch comes with the charcoal baskets and the inner part of the cooking grate is removable.

Here's a really good youtube explanation !

Thanks guys. I'm realy looking forward to it. Have been looking at the vortex and the slow n sear but being from north of the border the slow n sear is $175 to my door. Pretty sure that aint gonna happen. Could almost buy another master touch.

Get the Vortex, I spent years smoking on a Weber Performer and did very well with fire bricks or just using the snake/fuse setup, the later making it extremely easy to control temps on long cooks.

Good to know, thanks.
Is there any issues with banking the coals right up against the side of the bowl on the kettles. Will the heat ruin the porcelin in any way. I see lots of guys doing it on the internet, but just don't want to take the chance of ruining my new investment. It's suposed to come with charcoal baskets anyway so I'm thinking it Wouldn't be hard to imitate something similar to the slow n sear. Looks like the sns has more room in it than the weber charcoal baskets but with the hinged grate it should be easy to add extra charcoal if needed

Fine to bank direct against the side. I also use the baskets to imitate a vortex when i do wings.
