So a few months ago when I got my G3, I did a burn in, and unfortunately burned my firebox gasket pretty good in the process. The leak has gotten progressively worse and decided its time to replace. I figured if I am doing the firebox door, might as well do the cook chamber too. Currently installed is their rubber/silicone gasket, and was hoping to upgrade to something (e.g. fiberglass rope). HOWEVER, after some searching here on the forum and on the web, fiberglass doesn't seem to be the best choice for a cook chamber; or at least there is a concern with it.
I am looking for some insight on fiberglass gasket and possible alternative (graphite?) material. As for materials used for this, I am pretty green.
I can buy the replacement silicone gasket, and may if there's no real good alternative.
Thanks for looking and I will try and answer any questions or info I missed.
EDIT: Adding pics for reference
