G'day Bruces! :-D
I've had a big week with steak and it's been terrific. Pretty sure my haemoglobin levels have gone up a bit! I don't generally eat a lot of steak but last week I went to a good continental butcher and found these:
The price was 2 good to pass up so I bought 8 steaks. Didn't realise how big they were and so ended up with 2.7 kilo's... Over 5 pounds of steak! That's a lot for a fella cooking for himself up here in Queensland.
So anyway, I employed Roy Choi's Kalbi Marinade method for the entire batch. Ingredients here:
All together:
Blitzed:
Marinaded...
First night made some accompanyments:
This is a quick Korean style Cucumber pickle I knocked up... no recipe.
Most of the shots of the first night were cr@p, so this is all I got:
Second night I added some bean shoots to the cucumber pickle and served up some Kim Chi as well.
Plated:
Also tried this way. Very good!
Very tender.
Third night cooked up some more:
And carried on with the wrap theme...
4th Night I felt like something a little more substantial so went down the route of flat top seared sprouts!
Fork shot:
5th Night I did Slaw!
6th Night I fell like some sweet potato chips. Was really disappointed with the chips in the air fryer but the steak was terrific.
The Kalbi marinade was great at tenderising these steaks, which is a cut from the shoulder blade. Very underrated steak in my opinion and affordable too. A week of eats from the one cut was a real win for me!
Thanks for looking!
Cheers!
