If you haven't entered a throwdown contest yet, they are a lot of fun and win or lose, the results are usually quite tasty

There are about three different ones going on right now, and this one is for the Soups/Stews TD.
I haven't had Brunswick stew for quite a while and decided that it is time to rectify that. Since I already had some pulled pork in the freezer, I just had to add some chicken, which I smoked on my kamado. The recipe that I usually cook tends to be sweet and I didn't want that this time, so I went to the brethren links and found one from Saiko from years back.
I pretty much followed the recipe exactly, except that I have always enjoyed potatoes and lima beans in mine, so I added them in and onto the kamado to simmer for a while. (I wrapped the pot in foil to reduce the smoke on the outside and to reduce my wife's wrath when she found out).
After about 3 hours, it was ready and really exceeded my expectations. It was truly the best I have ever made and possibly the best I have eaten.
Thanks for looking.

Can it be cooked in an oven or stovetop, or some outdoor cooker only?

If you are referring to the throwdown, each contest has different rules and for this one, I think the majority of the meats have to be cooked on the smoker but because of the cold weather, stove top is allowed for the finished product. If you're just doing this for your own personal use, there is absolutely no need to cook everything on the smoker unless you just want the stew to have a smoky flavor, you could do the meats in the oven and then simmer it on top of the stove once combined in the pot.

That's the same recipe I use! It's great for using up leftover smoked meats.
Yours looks fantastic, Ron!! Wish I had a bowl right now.
