The next Q Haven Competition BBQ Class is scheduled for March 10th, 2018 in Orange, CT. This is a one day, tell all class.
Ted and Sheila Lorson will go through the entire timeline of a KCBS competition cook during this one day class. We will also cover competition strategy, meat sourcing, regional flavor profiles, presentation styles and more. All four categories will be prepared on site and you will try it all. Continental breakfast and lunch will also be served. This is the ideal class for a new team getting started in competition BBQ that wants to shorten their learning curve, or a cook with experience that wants to step up their game and learn some new techniques. We have held two classes over the last two years, and we have watched many of our students walk to the stage using our processes, including first place calls in all 4 categories. We will also talk about ways we have been able to make money off our competition success.
Q Haven has been on the competition circuit since 2006, cooking around 10 comps a year. We have won nine KCBS grand championships and two NEBS grilling grand championships, 15 reserve grands, along with numerous first place calls in all four categories. We have had ten first place chicken calls since 2012 (including four contests in a row!)
