I've been noticing some of the high end smokers are including a lid handle that rotates / spins as you lift the lid. The spinning action supposedly makes lifting a heavy lid a little easier on you.

What allows the handle tube to rotate freely? How do you make one? (or buy one?)

I cut two combination wrenches in half and welded the handle ends to the bottom 2 corners of the door, with the closed circle ends sticking straight out, angled slightly down. I then put a metal rod smaller than the wrench gauge, just small enough to freely rotate, through both holes and welded caps on either end of the rod to keep it from falling out. works perfectly and doesn't get hot.
