First Cook On My Rec Tec 590 Pellet Smoker

I did a rack of spares on my Rec Tec 590 last weekend using B&B mesquite. Went 220 most of the way and cranked up to 250 for the last hour. In my opinion they had too much smoke flavor. Still good. Pellet choice and temperature really make a difference.

That’s been one of my biggest takeaways from converting to pellets. i was hesitant because of the negative feedback on smoke flavor but honestly I haven’t notice a difference.

Same. For years people (this forum included) lead a lot of use to believe you couldn't achieve not only good smoke flavor, but also smoke rings. Neither of which are true. I probably wasted 100's of dollars on charcoal smokers avoiding pellet poopers (the name said people coined them) until i finally said F' it and bought one. Never looked back since. Sold all my charcoal smokers except my Weber 22 One touch kettle.
