First Comp

Congrats on the big win Bucc! Sounds like you had a great team. I do like how you adjusted with the lack of cooking space and decided to do a hot and fast cook to shuffle stuff around and have enough cook space.

I know the first time I did a practice cook with my teammates, I told them I wanted to go hot and fast. They were low and slowers and were leary about cooking hot and fast during the practice cook. After the tasting portion of the practice cook they got behind me 100% with the hot and fast cooking. If your teammates hadn't done it before, I know it can be nerve racking to put trust into something that goes against the normal thought of how to cook bbq.

The thing I am proudest of is the reaction in faith, we were down 65% of cooking real estate, behind 3 hours. When I called the new plan, something completely unknown to all of them, these guys just gave themselves time to have a little heart attack and then turned onto it and gave it all they had.
Sure, they may have pee'd a little bit but hey, we aren't robots!:becky:

We had to defeat 3 specialist BBQ restaurant crews to win.
One of them won "People's Choice", really nice guy so I was happy about that.
Interesting, many of the competitors just packed up and left but all of the chefs from the restaurant teams made the effort to come over and shake hands and congratulate us. It may not be a big comp compared to USA but having a few hunded people clap while the Mayor gives you bling bling shiny bling felt pretty fantastic, and so did having all the chefs pump my fist!

That's some fine lookin food and a great story. Congrat's on the results and we do need the team picture captioned.:thumb:
