Hi all,

Is there any use for a LSG or other fire management basket in a smoker with a round firebox? I understand it's most helpful for flat-bottomed ones, but its narrow base will still concentrate the coals and keep them contained more than a round bottom, right? Not to mention sifting out the ash. Folks like JD at Workhorse say it's not necessary, but I'm curious about what you all think!

Not necessary in either square or round fireboxes but when done right they work great. For round boxes a U shaped basket works best.

How about the v-shaped baskets. Any upside to having airflow beneath the fire and also keeping the coals and embers above the ash pan?
